I knew I had to check out the Laura Mercier Tres Chic Nail Polishes when I saw the pictures on the internet. Ever since then whenever I walk past a Lane Crawford, I just had to go in and check if the collection has arrived.

After waiting for more than half a month, they finally arrived! I was particularly interested in the Cabana shade beforehand, but after seeing the whole set in person, I knew I had to take a closer look at the other shades. And after swatching them, I find myself reaching for the wallet straight away at HKD160 apiece, and rushing home to play with them! Yes, they’re so beautiful that I bought the whole set!

From left to right: Luscious, Flamingo, Cabana, Oh La La, Sizzle

Luscious is the deepest shade in the collection, a deep but bright fuchsia purple.

Flamingo is a vivid hot pink.

Cabana is a soft coral peach.

Oh La La is the lightest and sheerest shade, a pale baby pink.

And Sizzle is a warm hot coral-red.

Beautiful, right?

The polish goes on smoothly with the wide brush provided. I had such an easy time painting my nails with it, and even though I don’t have a steady hand, no cleaning-up necessary!

Usually high quality polishes only require 2 even coats for an opaque finish, but I do need 3 coats for the shades Flamingo, Cabana and especially Oh La La. Oh La La is the sheerest and lightest shade, so since I wanted an opaque finish, it makes sense that I would need 3 coats. As for Flamingo and Cabana, they may look a little bit streaky without the third coat.

From thumb to pinkie: Sizzle, Oh La La, Cabana, Flamingo and Luscious.

The only thing that bothers me is the cap. The brush is attached to this large square cap, which makes it awkward to handle. I had to turn the cap almost every time just to get a better angle for the brush to work its magic. The Chanel polishes have a slightly smaller square cap, but you can remove the cap and find a smaller round top for a much easier handle for the brush.

For these beautiful colors and the lovely jelly finish, I don’t mind the inconvenience from the cap. I just love these so so much, and I’m so happy that I got them before they’re all sold out since they are limited edition!
