Just by looking at the banner of this blog, it shouldn’t be so difficult to figure out that I love Deborah Lippmann nail polishes. At the moment I own 29 of them, and I absolutely love every single one.
Deborah Lippmann herself announced the new shades on Twitter quite some time ago, and every since then, I’ve been dying to get my hands on her Resort 2012 Collection, which includes 2 shades, On the Beach & Mermaid’s Dream.

On the Beach & Mermaid's Beach
In Hong Kong, Deborah Lippmann is only available at Joyce Beauty. And I finally found these two babies on the shelf a few days ago. Good timing, since I made an appointment earlier for a manicure.
Happily I brought these two polishes to the salon, and since I couldn’t decide which polish to wear alone, I’ve decided to have them both painted on my nails! I asked to have the Mermaid’s Dream to be painted on only one nail on each hand, and the others, On the Beach.
Aren’t they lovely?
On the Beach is a rich bright riviera turquoise blue. Comparing with the other Deborah Lippmann polishes that I own, the texture of On the Beach is rather watery, causing it a bit difficult to avoid streaks after the first two coats. As a result, I recommend using 3 coats for an even and opaque finish. I own two similar shades, OPI Suzi says Feng Shui (not as bright as On the Beach) and China Glaze Flyin’ High (has a bit more green to it, making it a very true turquoise), and I have to say I like On the Beach the most out of the three, since it’s brighter and just looking at it makes me feel like I’m in a vacation.
Mermaid’s Dream has got to be the best-named polish I own. The first thing my manicurist said after applying the second coat of Mermaid’s Dream was: “It’s like a mermaid!”. And it does look like it, right? This is a sea foam, turquoise blue with a golden shimmer, a very very unique color, and not just by Deborah Lippmann. It’s a glittered shimmer, which is a first in Deborah Lippmann’s collection of nail polishes. It reminds me so strongly of the mermaid’s scales, which is what makes this truly unique and amazing. On my nails, there’s only two coats applied, and I find it opaque enough, but of course if desired, a third coat would probably be even better, especially when you don’t have a professional manicurist doing your nails for you!
(The two coats in the middle should be more opaque if I had waited longer between coats. Sorry for that! Or it’s simply because I’m not a professional…)
I just absolutely love this collection, especially Mermaid’s Dream. Hopefully they’re going to keep their glittered shimmer polishes coming! I just can’t wait to see what Deborah Lippmann has to offer next time, they’re always full of surprises!
You can purchase the Resort 2012 collection at the Deborah Lippmann website, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, etc. at USD 18 apiece!
